We’re heading for a heatwave – Are you prepared for it?
With the weather in the UK set to reach highs of 34C this week, it’s looking like it’ll continue in the coming weeks. Higher temperatures are welcomed by beachgoers and holidaymakers. But arable farmers across the country will be concerned that their grain could be affected by the heat.
It’s important to maintain most stored crops at temperatures below 12C with Linseed even lower at 5C. The main reason for keeping harvested grain cool is to prevent the infestation of grain beetles. For a more detailed explanation of the types of infestation and how to prevent it, the ADHB has a handy guide.
We’re prepared, are you?
As we’re heading into a period of high temperatures, at Plug&Cool we have prepared stocks of cooling fans for next-day delivery where possible. We have the new, orange cooling fans in production and the ex-stock of the previous model ready to be shipped immediately. To accompany the grain-cooling fans we also have plenty of poly pedestals ready for delivery.
If you’re concerned that certain areas of your grain pile are too warm, the Plug&Cool airspears do an excellent job of tackling troublesome hotspots. This could be a quick alternative to setting up a pedestal system if your grain store is slightly smaller or if you’re targeting specific areas. The airspears are lightweight and easy to use. There’s also the option of a higher-powered fan, in the airspear max.
