The Plug&Cool poly pedestal has been tried and tested with farmers across the UK and Europe for years, with its durability and large ventilation slots making it advantageous compared with its metallic counterpart. The only thing holding it back is that the ventilation slots are unsuitable for smaller grains, like rapeseed. After receiving lots of feedback from farmers, farm managers, and many of our resellers both at home and abroad, it was decided amongst the Plug&Cool team that a solution had to be provided for cooling Rapeseed.

After much deliberation, it was agreed that Plug&Cool would source a suitable product to offer with the Plug&Cool Pedestal or as an extra accessory. After weeks of testing different materials from various suppliers, the Plug&Cool workshop technicians settled on a premium-quality fabric that is lightweight but with enough stretch to comfortably fit over a pedestal base. It was also important to find a material that is both durable and thin enough to allow as much airflow as possible when used with cooling fans and pedestals. Giving farmers the option of a rapeseed sleeve with their pedestal means that they won’t have to find the material themselves.

Plug&Cool Managing Director, Matthew Gibbons had this to say about the Rapeseed Sleeves: After listening to our current customers, we needed to come up with a solution for cooling rapeseed. We thought about designing and manufacturing a new pedestal base with smaller ventilation slots but felt that this would reduce the amount of airflow through the grain pile. We realised that the best compromise would be to source a measured, cut-to-size mesh sleeve that farmers could easily slip over their existing pedestals. This should hopefully save our customers who farm Rapeseed and other small grains a lot of time and effort by having everything available in one place.

The new Plug&Cool Rapeseed Sleeves are available from the Pedestal page of the website as a package deal or as a singular item.
